Now your wondering who or what is Sybil. Well Sybil is this young woman, trick is she has 16 seperate personalities. Talk about crazy huh? She gets these random black out moments and can't remeber where she is, so she sees a psychologist. Her Psychologist Dr. Wilbur doesn't think there is anything seriously wrong with her, until she starts to meet her personalities. Each personality thinks they are their own person. Some think Sybil's mother is their mother, some think that they jsut live with Sybil and her family, and others think their old teacher is their mother. Anyway all the different personalities even claim to look different. Like there ae two guy personalities, who believe their male parts will come later. There is also a little girl personality, and many more. Anyway Dr. Wilbur through the whole book becomes Sybil's friend and helps her with her problems. Through the sessions, Sybil reveals how terrible her mother was, and how her friend died, and boyfriend moved away, and her grandmother died. Through every hardship came a personality. It is revealed that a little girl created them by pretending hard that it wasn't her in those situations. Then her imagination became reality. A new person was formed eacht eith a different age. My favorite part was when Dr. Wilbur asked each personality since they were all younger then Sybil to grow up to Sybil. But I won't give away what happned next.

Now doesn't this sound like an interesting read? What will happen to Sybil? Will she ever be one person? Who are the other selves? Will Sybil and Dr. Wilbur stay friends? Find out by reading Sybil! An epic novel full of pure enjoyment! America's next best seller.

At this point you should be about 3/4 of the way through your book. The book should be finished by the time the next blog is due on June 2nd. You should have learned quite a bit about your main character at this point. In this blog you are answering the question of whether or not he/she is "bookworthy", as in, should this person have a whole book about him/her? You need to state your opinion on this question and support that opinion with at least three specific events/details from your book. Include a picture for this blog as well. It should be something that relates to what you are discussing in your paragraph.

I definately think she is book worthy. There is no doubt about that. Yes I think that this person should have a whole book on themselves. This woman has 16 different personalities, and each one of them believes that they are an individual person. Each of them has a story to tell. Each of them has a part of Sybil's missing past. They are the key to the missing time. This book is full of mystery, humor, and just an all around good book. Like in this one part of the book her guy personality Mike comes out and talks about how he can impregnate a girl, but Dr. Wilbur is trying to explain to him, your not a guy your a girl, and well he doens't comprehend that he is a "guy" in a girls body. Throughout the whole book Dr. Wilbur meets new personalities, so that is also another specific event that is interesting . The last interesting event, well I finished the book already so when Sybil gets all her personalities back and she is one again.

At this point you should be about 2/3 of the way through your book. For your fifth blog posting I want you to focus on the people in your main "character's" life. Discuss two influential people in his/her life. This blog should be at least two well-detailed paragraphs long. (One paragraph for each person.) You also need to post two pictures that you think represent these two influential people.

Explanation on why i wrote the names like i did- its from their appearance in the book

The main main character is Sybil. Now Sybil is very hard to discribe, because one, she has many selves. So she really acts like sixteen diferent people. Sybil is not your typical girl. She has mental problems. She has long dark hair. She is the "waking self". She is shy, doesn't open up easily to people, trys to hide her feelings. Pretends to love her mother, even though her mother used to abuse and rape her with a button hook. Now I'm not sure whether or not to discribe Sybil's selves, because it's her, but its other people. So i'll just describe them. The first other selve to come along was Victoria Antoinette Scharleau (Vicky) she came along in 1926. She is an attractive blonde, French, confident, sophisticated, does the shopping, and well a bit flashy in her styles of clothing. She is the memory trace of all of Sybil's selves. The next selve to come was Peggy Lou and Peggy Ann Baldwin they also came along in 1926 as well. Baldwin was the name of Sybil's favorite teacher, and Peggy was the nickname Sybil's mother called her. Peggy Lou is angry, agressive. Has a pug nose, and a Dutch style hari cut. In the picture Vicky drew of the other selves Peggy Lou has a mischievous smile. Peggy Ann is the counterpart to Peggy Lou. Peggy Ann looks similair to Peggy Lou. However Peggy Ann is fearful not angry. Mary Lucinda Saunders Dorsett came alone in the year 1933. She is plump, has dark brown hair that is always parted to the side. She is loving, toughtful, maternal, contempaltive, and a dedicated Catholic, to the point in which it's too much. Like for example She disapproves of Sybil's boyfriend because dating is a sin. In the year 1927 Marcia Lynn however sometimes her last name is changed to Baldwin. She is a writer, and a painter. She has grey eyes, and brown hair, which is parted to the side. Her face is shielded, like her hair covers her face to hide her eyes. She is also extremely emotional. In the year 1935 VAnessa Gail Dorsett comes along. She is very dramatic, and also very attractice She is tall, with red hair, has a willowy figure. She has an oval face and light brown eyes. Mike Dorsett comes along in the year 1928. He is one of Sybil's two male selves. He is a builder and a carpenter (just like his dad). He has olive skin, dark hair, and brown eyes. The same year Sid Dorsett came along (In case you didn't realize is Sybil Isabel Dorset)He is another one of Sybil's two male selves. He is also a carpenter an a general handyman. He has fair skin, dark hair, and blue eyes. Nancy Lou Ann Baldwin doesn't have an exact date on when Dr. Wilbur thought she came along. She is interested in politics as fulfillment of biblical prophecy and inteensly afraid of Roman Catholics. She looks a lot like the Peggys. Sybil Ann Dorsett came along in te 1928. She is listless to the point of neurasthenia. She is pale and timid with ash- blonde hair, and an oval face with a staight nose. Ruthie Dorsett doesn't have a date either. She is a baby, one of the lesser developed selves. Clara Dorsett also doesn't have a date. She intesely relisiou, and hilghly crictical of the waking Sybil. In the year 1929 Helen Dorsett comes along. She is intensely afraid but determinded to acheive fulfillment. She has light brown hair, hazel eyes, a straight nose, and thing lips. Marjorie Dorsett comes along in 1928. She is serene, quick to laugh, very vivacious, likes to tease others, short, with wacy brunette hair. She has fair skin and a pug nose. The last of Sybil's selves is 1946 she doesn't have a name but is referred to as the blonde. She is a teenager that has curly blonde hair and a high voice. And well thats all I know of Sybil and her selves at this point.

Dr. Wilbur she is a psychiatrist. She is trying to help Sybil. She even becomes Sybil's friend and gets involved with the patient, not in like an I love you way but in a I care about you, and nothign is going to happen to you. She was probably one of the only woman psychiatrist where she worked. So I imagine she had a hard time proving it was multiple personality disorder, because it was very rare back then. So I would also say that Dr. Wilbur is determined. I'd also say she is stuborn, patient and understanding. Because she wouldn't change her mind about Sybil. But she was patient with her coping, and breaking windows and glass, and trying to hurt her. she was also patient when Sid one of Sybil's selves was convinced that he could make girls pregnant. She always listens to Sybil and is very observeent. She notices when something is wrong, or she is lying.

It shows and represents the different colors and personalities of whaty I believe all make up Sybil. It also pops out to the point where your eyes like to look at the picture, which represents how enjoyable the pages of the book are to read. So I guess to make it clear about the emotion it is excitement and enjoyable.

You should be about halfway through your book a this point. At the very beginning you discussed how you felt about the book so far. I want you to revisit that thought and answer the question, "Does this book make me want to keep reading?" In at least one well-detailed paragraph, you need to answer that question using specific details from the book. Was there a certain part/parts that you really enjoyed? Can you really relate to the person? Are they perhaps very different from you, therefore making them interesting to read about? Of course your feelings make go in the opposite direction, and you may end up writing about what makes the book so uninteresting to read. The point is, you not only want to give your opinion, but defend it as well. Also, include some picture that you feel expresses your feeling toward the book. It can symbolize, excitement,boredom, joy, unhappiness, anxiety, or any other emotion that makes sense for you.

Yes this book is getting very interesting. I can't seem to put this book down. I have to force myself not to get too far ahead, so I can keep up with the blogs. Hmm... There wasn't really a certain specific part that I enjoyed. But I did like reading about Sybil's past and trying to figure out whether or not her past made her who she is now. Because it discusses her mom's problems, and how she treated Sybil, and how Sybil was with other children, and other people. No, I can't relate to this person at all. Because I don't have other personalities and black out. Yes Sybil is different, but that is what makes her so interesting. Learning about her and her sixteen personalities is why the book is so great. What isn't interesting about trying to figure out why a girl can't seem to remeber things, times, or events in her life? Then to onyl find out that she has multible personality disorder. Now throughout the book we find taht Sybil just doesn't have one other personality but sixteen. We haven't met all 16 yet. But there is always mroe suprises in this book. Some event leads to an explanation, which reveals Sybil's horrible past. Now who can possibly say that, that isn't internesting?

At this point you should be about 1/3 of the way through your book. For your third blog, I want you to discuss autobiographies versus biographies. First, tell whether your book is an autobiography or biography. Next, discuss whether or not the story would be better as as biography or autobiography. Choose one particular event that has happened to your main "character" so far. Discuss the event in detail and explain whether or not you think this event is best told through the eyes of that person or of another. This blog should be at least one well-detailed paragraph long. You must give specific details from your book, including the page numbers in which the event you discuss occurs.

My book is a biography. The story is better as a biography because it would be too confusing if it was an autobiography.
One event that just happened a few chapters back to Sybil, is that Dr. Wilbur met with Viky (one of Sybil's selves) and they discussed that Sybil had no idea about the Peggies or about her. So Dr. Wilbur decides to tell Sybil that she isn't in a fugue state, she has multiple personalities. Sybil then gets scared and she doesn't want to hear anymore of this. So she reminds Dr. Wilbur that the time is up and that she must go. Dr. Wilbur tries to get her to stay, but she leaves. p 110. on p 132 Sybils' grandmother dies. This is a huge event. Sybil's grandmother was the only one who ever cared and protected her from her mother. The only person to show her kindness. At age 9 Sybil was supposed to go to the funeral but her parents told her to wait upstairs and they would call her when they were ready, they forgot about her and called her after the service was over. Her grandmother died of cervical cancer. When they were lowering her grandmother's casket in the grave she went to jump on top of it and was grabbed by rough hands, then all the sudden she looked around and was in a 5th grade classroom. She had blacked out for 2 years. On page 141 we find out that Sybils mom would give her the nickname Peggy Lou or Peggy Ann. So we can concluded why she chose the names Peggy Lou and Peggy Ann as two of her personalities. We can also conclude taht since they were choseen by her mother, and that her mother was such an angry person, we know why that the Peggies are both angry.

Who is Sybil?

Sybil Isabel Dorsett is actually Shirley Ardell Mason. I did some research to find out who Sybil really was, because in the book they use Sybil to protect her privacy except at the very end of the 2007 remake of the movie Sybil.

While everyone is in different places with their outside reading, you should have definitely started reading your book at this point. What do you think so far? Is the book interesting or dull, or perhaps somewhere in the middle? Can you relate to the main character so far? Does it help to know that it is a real person rather than a fictional one? What infromation have you learned about this person so far? Do you think you will enjoy the book? I reall enjoy this book so far. I haven't been able to put it down. I can relate to the main character a little bit. She is artisitic, like I am, and loses track of the time and occasiongly blacks out due to multiple personality disorder. We are both artistic. I like to believe I'm more like Viky her exotic personailty. I think it does help to know that this person is real, because then well other's with this illness can look to hers with hope, that they are not alone.

I have learned so far that she has three personalities, Peggy Lou, Peggy Ann, and Vicky. Peggy Lou is always angry she has short blonde dutch hair. Peggy Ann looks sort of like Peggy Lou and is always sad. Vicky is one of those people who loves life. Vicky is from France. I learned that all her different personalities, look different, act different, and even talk different.

Sybil comes to her psych one day, and her psych says hello Sybil. Sybil screams back I'm not Sybil can't you tell I'm Peggy Lou. And the Doctor asks her to describe herself. Peggy Lou says I look nothing like Sybil, and Sybil and I don't even have the same parents. I've learned that Sybil watched her friend get shot and killed accidentally. And that she has a bad memory involving glass and hands coming at her. She also loves her parents. Her mother died. Her personalitles want to help Sybil and they want her to know about them. The Doctor tells Sybil that she has people who take over her body, and Sybil gets scared and runs out of the office. I think the book is very good so far.

My first impression of her was geez! I hope she is alright. Because it is not normal for someone to not remeber large amounts of time. I really look forward to reading the rest of this book.
